CAS TEACHING STAFF
Mrs. Anika Colburn, K-3rd Teacher & Principal
"God has placed a love for teaching young people in my heart. Over the years, it has been a blessing to partner with Him in this exciting profession! As a Christian educator, it is my responsibility to provide a safe environment in which students can develop a sense of their God-given worth. To be entrusted with shaping the minds and hearts of my students is a high honor. Each student comes to my classroom with a unique set of gifts. It is my privilege to help them discover the world around them and their place in it. My planning, instruction and assessment are focused on helping every student develop into the amazing person God created them to be."
Ms. Linda Beckwith, 4th-8th Teacher
A combination of high expectations mingled with fun and peppered with purpose creates the right recipe for academic, social, and spiritual success. My goal in our classroom is to create an environment that strengthens and softens the hearts and minds of my students in preparation for God’s kingdom. “Fear not, little flock, for it is our Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:32
See you in class!
Ms. Kathy Morris | Music Teacher
Ms. Morris rejoins our CAS team, enlightening the minds and hearts of our students through one of the oldest and most essential sciences--now considered an Art form: Music! Having completed over 30 years of private piano teaching in the Columbus area through 'The Music Studio', Ms. Morris continues to share her love for the Lord and for music to the Columbus community. Kathy enjoys teaching, writing, arranging, and accompanying worship. She is a Nationally Certified Piano Teacher through MTNA, GMTA and is an active member of the Columbus Music Teachers Association. She currently serves as the pianist for Grace Presbyterian Church in Columbus. As Founder/Director of The Church Music Academy, Ms. Morris has spent the past 16 years training worship musicians to serve in their local churches. Ms. Morris has taught piano, organ, keyboard, guitar, theory, handbells/chimes, choral, worship, and led music camps in the Greater Columbus area. She joined our team in the Fall of 2018 to lead music for the school.
Music is one of God's great gifts to man and is one of the most important elements in a spiritual program. It is an avenue of communication with God, and "is one of the most effective means of impressing the heart with spiritual truth" (Education, p. 168).
Ms. "Grandma Debi" Savage | Art Teacher
There is sheer joy in helping students develop and bring out their creative God given talents through a number of diverse forms of art. Besides meeting educational requirements for art history and theory, we have endless FUN doing meaningful art projects. Students love displaying their finished works at our annual Spring art show and auction.
While we wait for Jesus to come, we practice a little heaven on earth right here at CAS while we give God all the glory, honor and praise for putting His creativity in each of us and allowing us to express it through so many rewarding outlets.
